Lindenhof, in the old town, is where you will find remnants of a Roman fortress and an imperial medieval residence. In the square is a giant chessboard, a popular venue with men. Tucked away along from the Lindenhof are ancient alleys and a beautiful square of medieval times. In a narrow alley, the Thermengasse in Lindenhof, you find the digs where Roman Baths have been excavated. Continue along this wonderful alley and you will reach Weinplatz with excellent shops and then meander into Storchensengasse for some very exclusive boutiques.
